Jim Reed, Senior Associate

Born and raised in Southern California, Jim graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs. He earned his MBA with an emphasis in Project & Construction Management from Golden Gate University of San Francisco.

Jim began his professional career with the 4392 Civil Engineering Squadron, Vandenberg Air Force Base, California.  There he engineered and managed facilities programs in support of Space Shuttle and Peacekeeper operations. Next, he served as Chief, Design & Construction, at San Vito Air Station, Italy.  Jim was responsible for implementation of a $20 million capital improvement program at this key National Security Agency facility.

After leaving active duty, Jim served as a Reserve Officer in US Air Force Civil Engineering, recently retiring at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.  He has worked with several public and private sector organizations throughout Southern California. His professional experience has encompassed a wide variety of project types and assignments, including military facilities, hospitals, elementary schools, land and building development, cellular communication sites, residential design , and mixed-use projects

In 2001, Jim founded NPD Associates, Inc. with the express purpose of providing innovative development and architecture. As Principal-in-Charge, Jim offers his leadership and expertise in conjunction with other team members.  Sustainable design is a cornerstone of the practice.

Jim is the recipient of the US Air Force Meritorious Service Medal, the USAF Commendation Medal and two US Air Forces in Europe Design Awards. His professional memberships include NAIOP and Toastmasters International. Jim’s continuing professional education includes coursework in Sustainable Design, Interior & Lighting Design, Real Property Management, as well as other related areas.  When not designing or planning,  Jim enjoys long distance cycling, mountain biking, and scouting with his two sons.

He is licensed as an Architect in CA, TX, and HI and a Civil Engineer in CA, NV, and HI; as well as being a LEED Accredited Professional and a BOMI certified Real Property Administrator.

 

 

Jay Jamshasb, RA, Senior Associate/Medical Practice

Jay graduated with a Bachelor of Architecture from LSU.  He has over 25 years of experience in healthcare, communications, and institutional projects…valued cumulatively at over $1.25B. He is a well-respected and proven leader in the field of Medical Architecture; as well as program management for data center and commercial projects.  Jay’s medical projects cover the full range of functional types found in the practice:  ICU rooms, operating rooms, MOBs, lab testing facilities, etc.  Specific projects include the Southwestern Bell Central Data Center; a 150,000 sf facility located in Irvine , CA. Project was valued at $65M.

He also managed design and production team of 17 architects and 38 engineers/consultants for the design development of a $140M replacement hospital in Los Angeles, including excellent coordination and professional relationships with OSHPD. He is licensed as an Architect in California and Nevada.
